Pension ministry concludes screening exercise for leadership role

The Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Lagos State, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, has supervised the screening exercise of 32 candidates for the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, to prepare them for future public leadership roles of the State. 

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs of the ministry Mr. Bamidele Balogun, the screening which was intensive and extensive, was meant to test candidates’ intelligence in all ramifications and involved power-point preparation and presentation by candidates, interactive session with assessors, interviewing, and group discussion among candidates. The exercise which was held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre, Magodo, was followed with candidates undergoing Executive Training and Validation Programme. 

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu established Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy in 2021 in honour of the late first civilian governor of the State,  Lateef Jakande, in order to offer platform for youths aspiring for leadership positions through coaching and mentoring. 

“It is a great idea of the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to prepare young people for future public leadership roles, knowing the importance of leadership in the affairs of human. Remember, Lateef Jakande (is) adjudged to be the greatest public servant/ leader Lagos has ever produced up to date, his Legacies are indelible even generation t come will hear about him. So the Lagos State governor today want to sustain that virtue of selfless service to humanity as exemplified by the late Jakande.  “Not everyone is meant to be a leader, that why we painstakingly screening applicants for the course for us to get the best candidates and prepare them for different leadership roles in the interest of the masses.
