The National Pension Commission (PenCom), in collaboration with the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), has introduced a Data Recapture Self-Service Platform aimed at making the process of updating Retirement Savings Account (RSA) records faster, easier, and more accessible.

Launched on February 1, 2026, the digital platform allows eligible RSA holders to submit and process their data recapture requests online, eliminating the need for physical visits to Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs). The initiative marks a significant step toward improving service delivery and enhancing user convenience in Nigeria’s pension system.

PenCom explained that the data recapture exercise is mandatory for RSA holders who opened their accounts before the introduction of the Enhanced Contributor Registration System (ECRS) on July 1, 2019. The process enables contributors to update their biodata and align their records with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) database using the National Identity Number (NIN) as a unique identifier, in line with federal government directives.

The new self-service platform allows users to complete the entire process remotely, using internet-enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets, or computers. It features a user-friendly interface, secure document uploads, and biometric verification, ensuring data protection while improving efficiency.

According to industry stakeholders, updating records through the platform offers several benefits, including preventing delays in processing retirement benefits, reducing errors caused by mismatched data, and safeguarding accounts against identity theft or duplication.

To access the platform, RSA holders are required to provide their RSA PIN, NIN, and a valid email address. The process involves three key steps: registration, data submission, and processing. After signing up and verifying their email through a one-time password, users are expected to complete the data recapture form, upload relevant documents, and capture a live facial image along with a digital signature. Submissions are reviewed within five days, with applicants receiving email notifications on the status of their requests.

Commenting on the initiative, Godson Ukpevo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Veritas Glanvills Pensions Limited, described the platform as a major boost to the efforts of PFAs in migrating RSA holders to the ECRS. He commended PenCom for its commitment to improving the pension system through digital innovation.

Ukpevo also urged RSA holders who are yet to complete their data recapture to take advantage of the new platform, assuring that Veritas Glanvills Pensions Limited remains ready to provide guidance and support through its customer experience and IT teams.

The rollout of the self-service platform is expected to accelerate compliance with the data recapture exercise while enhancing transparency, efficiency, and user experience across Nigeria’s pension industry.
