Following concerns trailing the Minister of Interior’s decision to cancel Nigeria’s Visa-on-Arrival (VOA) policy, the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has assured the foreign community that it is actively engaging with the Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to find a solution that strengthens security while maintaining the policy, which has boosted tourism, trade, and investment.
PEBEC’s Director General, Zahrah Audu, in a statement she personally signed, urged the foreign community to remain calm and confident in the organisation’s ability to resolve the matter. “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Nigeria remains an attractive destination for investors, tourists, and businesses alike,” she said.
Audu reiterated that PEBEC has a proven track record of driving reforms to improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria. She added that the organisation has implemented various initiatives to simplify procedures, reduce bottlenecks, and create a more conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive.
She assured that the country’s primary objective is to strengthen security around the VOA process while maintaining the policy, which has been instrumental in promoting tourism, trade, and investment in Nigeria.
Audu further noted that with collaboration and dialogue, the security issues identified would be addressed while a secure and efficient VOA process that would benefit all parties involved would be achieved.
