Project Enable Africa (PEA), has announced the launch of AbilityX 1.0, a disability inclusion conference aimed at transforming national conversations into tangible action and highlighting the economic potential of persons with disabilities (PWD).
The conference scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in Lagos, is part of activities marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
With the theme: “The Future of Disability Inclusion in Nigeria,” PEA said the event seeks to reposition PWD not as passive beneficiaries of charity, but as active contributors to Nigeria’s economic and social development.
In a statement, PEA’s Executive Director, Olalekan Owonikoko, said the organisation’s agenda is clear: “We aim to liberate people living with disability by equipping them with the tools, opportunities, and platforms needed to participate fully in the economy and build an inclusive future.”
He described AbilityX, as a shift from advocacy to action, empowering PWD to become architects of Africa’s inclusive economic growth.
According to him, the conference will explore how technology, data, policy, and the future of work can drive systemic inclusion. Leaders across finance, healthcare, media, hospitality, employment, entrepreneurship, and public policy will convene to develop long-term strategies for integrating PWD into Nigeria’s workforce and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
PEA’s partner, Jobberman Nigeria, emphasised that the initiative aligns with efforts to expand economic opportunities for PWD.
“We are excited to collaborate with Project Enable Africa to strengthen pathways for persons with disabilities in the labour market as we reimagine the future of work,” said Olamide Adeyeye, Country Head of Programmes.
Beyond dialogue, the organisers aim to build a multi-stakeholder ecosystem that fosters innovation, strengthens disability leadership, and promotes sustainable partnerships nationwide. The event will also feature the AbilityX Impact Award, recognising individuals and organisations championing disability inclusion.
