Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies to urgently rescue victims abducted along the Biu–Buratai road since April 15, 2026.
In a Tuesday statement, Dalung said the families have lived through an agonising nightmare, with “days turned into weeks and weeks into months” while their loved ones remain in captivity.
“There are pains that words cannot adequately describe, and there are silences that indict the conscience of a nation,” the ex-minister said.
Dalung noted that families have reportedly received “proof of life through voice notes and photographs,” describing the situation as “psychological torture.”
“Imagine the torment of hearing the voice of someone you love, knowing that the person is alive but imprisoned in the hands of abductors, while you remain powerless to reach them,” he stated.
Citing Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, Dalung said “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government,” and called on the Federal Government to treat the case as an emergency.

“I make a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Federal Government of Nigeria, the national security architecture and all agencies responsible for the protection of lives: please bring these Nigerians home,” he said.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain urged government to “intensify intelligence gathering, strengthen coordination among security agencies and deploy every legitimate operational capability necessary to locate and rescue them.”
Dalung stressed that the victims “are not statistics,” adding: “Every ‘one’ among those numbers has a name, a family, dreams and people waiting at home.”
He also commended security personnel “who continue to confront terrorists, kidnappers and other violent criminals,” and called for the Biu–Buratai corridor and other vulnerable routes to be secured.
“To the Federal Government, our demand is compassionate but unequivocal: find them, rescue them and bring them home. Until every Nigerian can travel without the fear of disappearing into captivity, our collective claim to security remains incomplete,” Dalung further stated.
