NATIONAL chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Alli Modu Sheriff yesterday declared that the party has a brighter future, stressing that the party will soon become a force to reckon with in the country.
Sherif who spoke in Akure, the Ondo State capital when he paid a courtesy visit to the state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko noted that the party will soon emerge as the leading party in the country.
The PDP chairman who said he was in the state to consult with Mimiko who is the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum ahead of the party’s National Convention slated for May, solicited for the support of all members of the party in the state. His words: “I am in Ondo State to pay a courtesy visit on our Governor General. I was in Rivers State on Tuesday for similar purpose and I will also visit other states of the federation before our party’s National Convention.”
“My visit to Ondo State is to discuss with the Governor on how we will have a successful convention by the end of May, and all the preparations for the convention are on top gear.
“It is evidently clear that all the re-run elections held recently are in our favour. This shows that the party has come together because we won virtually all the polls. It is a sign that all the aggrieved party members have buried their differences in order to allow the party to move forward”.
In his welcome remarks, Mimiko said since Sheriff came on board, PDP has been winning all the re-run elections.
The governor said PDP needs the support of the masses to move forward, stressing that he believes that the political experience of Sheriff would bring the party together.
