Uchey Ezeomedo is a Nigerian born singer and song writer who is resident in Barcelona Spain.
She is also a Certified Teacher of Business English.
In this interview, the married mum of four shares her gospel music journey and how is is happily serving God and reaching out to the world through Gospel music.

How long have you been into music?
I had always been singing as far back as i could remember. Right from when l was seven, in a junior Charismatic group in my local church. Officially as a recording artiste, three years now. (dating back to covid era when l went to studio for the first time) till date, i haven’t looked back.
How supportive are your family members, especially your husband towards your music career?
Gospel Music especially for independent Artistes is quite demanding in every aspect: spiritually, Artistically, financially, psychologically etc. I’m blessed to be in a family where different people fit into different roles gunning to achieve one thing. I’ve had to do some song parts with my daughters. My son of 14 years has been my little Engineer handling my mini studio and doing most of the editing involved. My husband has been very very supportive too. Above all he throws in his weight to ease the financial demands. In all its a collective effort and I’m grateful.
What does music mean to you?
First of all, music is universal as nobody hates music. Gospel music on its own is gospel preached in colours of sounds and melodies. God is spirit. Gospel music must come from a place of depth and profound connection with Him to meet the spiritual yearning in man.
Can you tell us more about your new song, Ebube and the inspiration behind it?
Ebube (The Glory) was birthed in my place of worship. Most of my songs come at midnight. (and l have over 200 unpublished songs). Ebube dropped during a praise session and like other songs I’d do researches on the topic to know why God called my attention to it. Interesting I’ve listened to the senior Pastor of Dunamis int’l Gospel Centre Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche preach on the Glory of God and my eyes popped on hearing what the glory of God does and what it is. So l went back to search and more materials in addition, made the composition interesting.
Do you have an album yet?
Interestingly yes!!. As a matter of fact l began my music carrier with a seven tracks album, The evidence of my days of little begining was clearly shown on the album hence the need to improve and become better which is where we are now. Work is currently ongoing to remake some of the beautiful songs. We are moving forward.
What should fans expect from Uche Ezeomedo this 2023?
Uchey has two more videos to release this year, a brand new song and an official video of a redo of “Ogah Na Master”: a song from the album. Meanwhile, I’m also paying attention to the all important promotion of the already released songs so that we can reach out to more people.
Any future collaborations?
That would be one of my dreams come through. However, it’s not a do or die affair. I’d rather devote more to developing myself and to focusing on where the spirit is leading me per time and if he says its time for collaboration, he will provide the who and the wherewithal.
Who are your mentors?
Coming from a family of music lovers and growing up surrounded by vibes and melodies. Patty Obasi, Voice of the Cross, Onyeka Onwenu, Panam P.P., etc.The list is much.
Where do you see your brand in few years time?
Three years from now is not far. In addition I’m not in a competition however, whatever I’m doing now by three years should be a child’s play. Only this way would l measure my growth and then only should l tell myself welldon. Eventually, the dream is to be the best version of me and to give the best of what I’ve been given to bless humanity and won souls for heaven.
What’s your advice for young artists?
I usually begin this response by reminding myself that we’re all up and coming irrespective of the realm we operate. It’s only the reality that can keep all of us relevant irrespective. This applies to all and more to beginners. As long as there’s yearning in us, there is the spirit to fill us up. The more we’re filled the more supernatural we become and A spirit filled upcoming is a bomb waiting to explode. Never give up.
