House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions yesterday directed the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) to furnish it with the identities of informants who gave the tip-off based on which it raided a property belonging to former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
Also,  the committee summoned leaderships of  Nigeria Police Force, Economic and Financial Crime Commission( EFCC) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)  to appear before it in respect of a petition sent to the House by Mrs Jonathan, alleging that she was being harassed by security agencies. In a petition to the House, recently,  the former first lady alleged that she was being harassed by the NDLEA,  EFCC and other security agencies.
Speaking at a sitting of the committee yesterday, the NDLEA, represented by a director in  the agency, Femi Oloruntoba, said it got a tip-off from an unnamed source that the former first lady’s property  located at Igbeti Rock Street Maitama, an highbrow area in Abuja, was being used for drug related activities.
According to Oloruntoba, “Based on the information, eight officers of my agency visited the premises after surveillance was conducted on the premises. It is not true that 50 officers from my agency visited the premises”.
He  added that the officers met two occupants of the premises and provided them with a search form which they endorsed.
