Pastor accused of killing 60-year -old female member in Ondo

A Pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Ode-Irele, headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, Elijah Taiwo has been accused of killing a female member of his church, Mrs. Ajisomo Lawson.
Taiwo who is the founder of CAC Oke Oluwa sekun mi derin allegedly killed the woman for ritual, as some parts of her body were allegedly removed after her death.
Daily Sun gathered that the deceased was invited by Taiwo from Liseri village via Ode Irele where she lived for a spiritual programme.
It was also gathered that the Pastor arranged for a motorcycle to take the woman back to her village after the spiritual programme but she did not get home.
It was learnt that the family became curious when she did not return home from the Pastor, a development which prompted them to raise a search team who later found her lifeless body in a bush inside a palm plantation on Irele-Ore road.
A source said the deceased’s private part, her breasts and two eyes were removed by her suspected killers.
All efforts by the family to know her whereabouts from the pastor who invited her was not successful as he (pastor) was said to have fled the town since the death occured.
Speaking on the development, one of the children of the deceased, Seyifunmi Lawson narrated that her mother was invited to Irele by Pastor Elijah for a revival programme, initially scheduled to take place on Friday but was cancelled.
“Mama told pastor of her interest to return to her village since she was not prepared enough to stay longer than necessary at Ode Irele and the pastor promised to arrange an okada rider that will take her back the following morning. Our mother left with the okada rider by 7am on Friday and unfortunately the woman did not get to her village,” she said.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ondo State Police command, Mr. Femi Joseph confirmed the incident but said it was not clear yet if the deceased was killed by ritualists.
He said, “ We can not say for now if it was a spiritual killing because before the deceased’s body was found, her body was already decomposing, so one cannot say yet if parts of her body were removed.
But we are waiting for the result of autopsy to determine the cause of the death.”
The PPRO also disclosed that a member of pastor Elijah’s church has been arrested in connection with the death of the woman.
