Mrs Abimbola further noted that the empowerment was designed to provide beneficiaries with practical means of improving their businesses, increasing their sources of income and contributing meaningfully to the welfare and economic stability of their families. She stressed that supporting police families remains an important aspect of strengthening the home front and promoting the well-being of police personnel.
The initiative is in furtherance of the welfare-oriented vision of the Inspector-General of Police, which places emphasis on the welfare of serving police personnel, their families and the broader police community. Through the leadership of Alhaja Mutiat Disu at the national level and Mrs. Bukola Abimbola in Oyo State, POWA continues to translate this vision into practical interventions that directly benefit police families.
The event was further strengthened by the presence of representatives of wives’ associations from other security and law enforcement agencies, including NAOWA, COWA and the Nigeria Immigration Service, underscoring the spirit of unity, collaboration and mutual support among sister agencies.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, encouraged them to make judicious use of the items and financial support provided, urging them to channel the empowerment towards strengthening their businesses and improving the welfare of their families. He noted that a stronger family support system contributes to improved morale, welfare and effective service delivery within the Police.
In their separate remarks, the beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of POWA, particularly Alhaja Mutiat Disu and Mrs. Bukola Abimbola, describing the empowerment as a timely and valuable intervention that would assist them in improving their livelihoods, strengthening their businesses and supporting their families.
