The Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association has lent its support to an important community effort led by the Glorious Sports Promotion.

According to a statement signed by the chairman of the association, Mrs. Edna Bola Aiyegbeni, the boxing body is involved in the effort to popularise the sport, not only in Oyo State but Nigeria as a whole.

“We are taking boxing to the streets as a tool to raise awareness about drug abuse in sport,” Mrs. Aiyegbeni said in the statement.

She added; “Together with Alhaji Waheed Alabi, CEO of Delads Boxing Promotion, Gloves for Africa, urban fit and Francis Aiyegbeni Sports, we’re standing behind a movement that puts young people first.”

According to her, the street boxing show will hold today, at the under-bridge area at Molete, Ibadan.

“The show will come alive with energy, boxing demonstrations and conversations that matter. NDLEA Zone 9 will also be addressing the youths directly, speaking about the legal implications of substance use and how drug abuse silently destroys sports careers before they even begin,” she added.

“This isn’t just an event; it’s a mission. It’s a gathering of champions, coaches, community leaders and young people who believe in a brighter, drug-free future,” Mrs. Aiyegbeni said, while inviting the people of Ibadan to come and witness raw talents, passion, and purpose as boxing takes over the streets of Molete.
