The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Cross River State says over 5,196 driver’s licences are lying unclaimed in the state.
FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Innocent Etuk, disclosed this during an interview in his office.
He urged drivers in the state to come forward and claim their licences as the leadership of the Corps has printed all outstanding licences and despatched them to states for collection.
The Sector Commander also revealed that the command has recorded 384 cases of attempts to corrupt its officials by drivers between July and December 2025.
Etuk identified overloading as another major traffic offence in the state, with 548 cases recorded during the same period.

The command, he added, also conducted four mobile courts, arraigning 157 traffic offenders, with 153 convicted and four discharged.
Etuk emphasised the command’s zero-tolerance policy towards irregularities, stressing the need for sanity on the state’s roads.
He cited illiteracy among drivers as a major challenge, with many unable to interpret road signs, posing a grave safety risk. Etuk urged all stakeholders to take responsibility for safe driving, emphasising it is a collective effort.
The command has intensified advocacy campaigns across the state to promote safety practices and prevent distracted driving.
