Over 250 residents of Osun State have benefited from the gas-powered generators and 160-liter chest freezers distributed by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative.
The beneficiaries are mostly youths and women from the Orolu, Irepodun, Olorunda, and Osogbo local government areas of Osun.
The distribution which was organized in collaboration with the Ileri-Oluwa Empowerment Group, took place at the Osogbo local government council secretariat, yesterday.
The initiative, according to the organisers, was aimed at promoting financial independence among the beneficiaries.
Represented by Dr. Dare Adeyemi, the Executive Director of Marine and Operations at NPA, Engr. Olalekan Badmus, explained that the selection of generators and freezers was based on a thorough needs assessment.

“Today’s event is not just another gathering; it represents a continuation of the NPA’s commitment to community support through our Corporate Social Responsibility programmes over the past three years.
“At the NPA, we believe that development must extend beyond the ports and positively impact lives across the nation. This commitment drives our decision to support communities, especially those in need of opportunities,” he added.
The empowerment tools and grants distributed during the event are part of NPA’s ongoing effort to help individuals grow their businesses, support their families, and strengthen the local economy.
Former Commissioner in the state, Engr. Sola Oladepo, stated that the empowerment initiative facilitated by Engr. Badmus would significantly boost socio-economic activities in the federal constituency, particularly in the state capital.
He praised NPA’s Managing Director, Engr. Abubakar Dantsoho, for enabling residents to benefit from the programme and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the equipment wisely.
