Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Wednesday began a 10-day promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants across the FCT Civil Service and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the exercise was approved by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and will cover staff across 150 cadres and grades. The exercise, which kicked off on July 1, 2026, is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, according to the commission.

“The Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion exercise for over 13,000 FCT civil servants for the year 2025,” the commission said in a statement. “The exercise is expected to commence on July 1, 2026 for a period of ten days.”

Wike has also directed that the commission conduct the 2026 promotion before the end of the year to ensure all eligible officers have opportunities for advancement.

He instructed the commission to collaborate with relevant FCTA agencies to prevent problems that occurred in the previous exercise from recurring.

Ezeh assured participants that arrangements had been finalised to ensure a hitch-free computer-based test (CBT) promotion exercise and urged candidates to be patient during the process. He wished all candidates success.

The FCT Civil Service Commission pioneered CBT-based promotion exercises in 2024, becoming the first civil service commission to run promotions by that method shortly after its inauguration in March 2024.
