More than 1,000 retirees under the Osun State Contributory Pension Scheme, yesterday protested, stating the severe hardships faced by members.
At a press conference in Osogbo, key figures such as Alhaji Ayinde Toyeen (State Coordinator), Pastor Adepoju Sunday (Chairman), and Alhaja Abidoye (Chairperson 2), appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assistance.
They lamented the dire situation faced by Osun retirees, stating that many are suffering financial distress, with some experiencing daily fatalities due to lack of access to medical care.
“We, the retirees under the Osun State Contributory Pension Scheme, humbly appeal to President Tinubu to kindly intervene and help save our souls,” they stated. The leaders urged the President to address the ongoing issues at the local government level, stressing the urgent need for intervention to alleviate the plight of contributory pensioners.
They called for an amicable resolution regarding the payment of outstanding entitlements for retirees, particularly those from primary schools and local governments between 2017-2026, as well as secondary school, tertiary institutions, and civil service retirees from 2020-2026.

They acknowledged and appreciated Governor Ademola Adeleke for his notable efforts in alleviating the suffering of retirees in the state.
