Governor Alex Otti has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle for the Abia State executive council, even as he has sworn-in two new Commissioners and a special adviser to Governor.
With the new cabinet adjustments, former Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Kingsley Nwokocha, will now serve as the Commissioner for Labour and Productivity.
Ministry of Lands and Housing was split into two separate Ministries, with Chaka Chukwumerije now the Commissioner for Lands.
The new commissioners, Dr. (Mrs.) Salome Obiukwu, is now the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce; while Chiemela Uzoije is now the Commissioner for Housing.
Christian Enweremadu also sworn in alongside the two Commissioners, is now the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture.
Otti charged the Commissioners to bring fresh energy, commitment, and integrity to the service of the State.
The Governor described the appointments as part of his administration’s strategy of periodically injecting fresh ideas to enrich the quality and broaden the scope of his administration’s performance.
While congratulating the new appointees for scaling through the rigorous screening process, reminded them of his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, urged them to quickly settle into their new roles as there was no time “for honeymoon”.
Thanking the governor on behalf of others, Dr. Obiukwu promised they would discharge their duties with the fear of God and for the benefit of the people of Abia State.
