The Allied Peoples Movement ( APM) has said that the outcome of the Osun governorship contest is an indication that Nigerians have allegedly rejected the All Progressives Congress ( APM).

The APM, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, said it is obvious that it’s Presidential Candidate, Seyi Makinde, will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

According to the party, all indicators point to alleged widespread public distaste against the President Tinubu-led administration with Nigerians yearning for a people-oriented leadership under Governor Makinde.

It stated that the APC administration under President Tinubu has been rated as allegedly ” the worst in the history of the country , with widespread economic hardship, galloping inflation, massive unemployment, infrastructural decay, a frustrated citizenry and diminishing national esteem for which Nigerians are eager to vote him out.”

The opposition party noted that “The triumph of the people over the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s governorship election in President Tinubu’s home State, Osun, not only foretastes the defeat that awaits President Tinubu in 2027 but also firmly established Makinde’s people-driven position that every political establishment seems unbeatable until the people decide otherwise.

“The booing of President Tinubu’s political henchmen including APC state governors as they fled from Osun State shows that Nigerians are done with the APC and cannot wait to vote out President Tinubu in 2027.

“Judging from the disposition of Nigerians as witness in the booing of APC leaders, President Tinubu and his party will struggle to command any genuine audience during the upcoming campaigns. They should, as such, not expect votes from Nigerians as the electorate will not reward a failed and oppressive administration with re-election.”

Furthermore , the APM stated that “Nigerians can no longer continue to stomach the arrogance in failure, totalitarian proclivities, worsening insecurity and economic hardship that the Tinubu administration now represents. They yearn for new realities under an honest, transparent, humane and people-oriented leadership as now embodied in the APM and our Presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde.

“Nigerian are gravitating towards Seyi Makinde because they see in him the right Presidential candidate with the desired track record of performance, practical blueprint, competence and youthful commitment to reset Nigeria to a nation of our collective dream.

“As a state governor, our Presidential candidate distinctively demonstrated an unparalleled capacity for leadership by growing the economy of Oyo state to become one of the most thriving in Nigeria and the sub-region, to the extent that a president of another African country visited Oyo State to tap leadership ideas from Governor Makinde.’

It added “our party therefore cautions the APC to read the hand writing on the wall and perish any thoughts of rigging the 2027 presidential election as any attempt to subvert the Will of the people will be firmly resisted by Nigerians on the platform of the APM.

“The APM congratulates Nigerians on the triumph of their Will in the Osun State governorship election as our party leads the charge in the collective resolve to redeem our nation from the stranglehold of the APC come January, 2027.”
