A Chief Magistrate’s court in Osogbo, Osun State, has remanded a 31-year-old man, Suleimon Olamide, labeled a “fake herbalist,” for allegedly defrauding a victim of N12.5 million.

Olamide was arraigned on three counts related to fraud and theft. The prosecution, led by Elisha Olusegun, informed the court that the defendant was employed by Mufutau Mosuru to dig a well at his residence. During this engagement, Olamide claimed to have had a vision indicating that Mosuru’s mother was plotting to kill him.

To avert this supposed threat, Olamide persuaded Mosuru to pay him for ritual rites he claimed were necessary.

The prosecutor noted that these actions contravened sections 409, 390(9), and 5(1) of the state’s criminal law.

Olamide pleaded not guilty. The presiding magistrate, Dr. Olusegun Ayilara, ordered that he be remanded in the Ilesa Correctional Centre until the next hearing, scheduled for March 26, 2026.
