The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gained significant momentum on Saturday as it formally welcomed two senators and three members of the House of Representatives into its ranks.
Senator Francis Fadahunsi, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, Hon. Wole Oke, Hon. Sanya Ominrin and Hon. Abimbola Ajilesoro were officially received by the APC National Secretary, Dr Ajibola Basiru, during a ceremony that marked their official transition to the party.
Basiru praised the current administration under President Bola Tinubu, noting improvements in foreign reserves and state allocations, and commended the Osun APC’s commitment to endorse Tinubu for a second term.
Following endorsements from party stalwarts, Chief Sola Akinwumi and Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, declared that it was time for action in Osun, stating, “Dancing is enough; it is time for work.”
He emphasised that the entrance of the new members into the APC is a testament to the party’s progressive vision for development, stability and prosperity in Osun.

“As Osun drifts towards economic uncertainty and administrative decline, it is essential for every responsible politician and stakeholder to unite for the common purpose of rescuing and rebuilding our state. This effort transcends individual ambitions; it’s about ensuring a brighter future for our children through responsible governance,” Oyebamiji asserted.
He added, “Your decision to join us today reinforces our momentum and signals that the future belongs to those willing to act decisively and responsibly. In Osun, it’s time for work!”
Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, urged the newly defected members to return to their communities and inform voters that progress has resumed in Osun.
“With the 2026 governorship election approaching, our goal is clear: reclaim Osun and restore people-focused governance. We will build a state characterised by effective schools and hospitals, durable infrastructure, empowered youth and small businesses, and transparent governance,” Oyetola said.
The state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, posited that the event signals an imminent change in political leadership in the state come 2026, noting that the incoming political figures are not just any candidates but goal-oriented individuals committed to their aspirations.
