Osun Amotekun arrest man for breaking Mosque to steal, 5 others

Operatives of Amotekun corps in Osun State have arrested a 32-year-old man, Nurudeen Olawale, for allegedly broken into a Mosque in Osogbo, to steal.

A sitrep by the spokesperson of Amotekun corps in Osun, Yusuf Abass, on Monday, explained that the suspect who hailed from Ibadan, in Oyo State, was caught while attempting to steal money from a mosque located at Ogo-Oluwa area, Osogbo.

“Worshippers on early morning prayers caught him in the act and alerted Amotekun operatives, who responded swiftly and arrested him on the spot. Olawale confessed to the crime and admitted it was not his first time targeting religious spaces,” Abass stated.

He disclosed that a 33-year-old Monsuru Moshood was caught, stealing electrical wire from an uncompleted building in Osogbo and confessed that he had been in the act for three years

“He confessed that he sells the stolen wires to a buyer identified as “Tini” at Sabo, Osogbo, for N10,000, despite the wires being valued at over N350,000,” Abass said.

Also, Amotekun explained that a 21-year-old Oladare Yusuf, was arrested after stealing cocoa from a farm in Apara village, noting that Yusuf admitted to the offense, stating it was his first attempt and that he intended to sell the cocoa beans if successful.

Similarly, a 39-year-old Olamide Olowo, who was accused of making fake mobile money transfers to foodstuff sellers in Osogbo, was tracked and arrested from his hideout, admitting that he had defrauded nearly ten people using the same method.

“Two additional suspects, Hamzat Mukaila (45), a motorcyclist from Osogbo, and Tobi Omoranti (30), a security guard from Ibadan, were arrested in the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo around 12:25 am while attempting to burgle a shop. They were found in possession of a gun and cutlass. Amotekun was timely alerts by residents, Amotekun officers apprehended the duo before they could carry out their mission,” Abass added.
