The Super Falcons delivered another convincing performance on Monday evening, overpowering Senegal 3-0 in Ikenne to conclude their pre-WAFCON friendly series on a high note.
Nigeria had already claimed a 2-1 victory in the first meeting between both sides, but the return encounter highlighted the growing confidence and cohesion within Justine Madugu’s squad as they stretched their dominance over the West African rivals.
After controlling much of the opening half without finding a breakthrough, the Falcons returned from the interval with greater urgency and quickly turned their superiority into goals.
Joy Omewa sparked the rout four minutes after the restart, finishing from close range after connecting with an inviting ball from Shukurat Oladipo. The forward doubled her tally seven minutes later, once again taking advantage of Oladipo’s delivery to leave the visitors reeling.
With a two-goal cushion secured, Nigeria continued to dictate the tempo and pinned Senegal deep inside their own half for long spells.

The third goal arrived in the 66th minute when captain Rasheedat Ajibade released Asisat Oshoala, who calmly slotted home to put the result beyond doubt and cap another productive outing for the experienced striker.
While the attack grabbed the headlines, Nigeria’s defence also stood firm. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie produced a number of important interventions whenever Senegal threatened, ensuring the visitors left without a goal.
The victory means the nine-time African champions completed the double-header with a combined score of 5-1, offering further evidence that the team is steadily building momentum ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Madugu will take encouragement from the blend of attacking efficiency and defensive discipline displayed across both matches as the Falcons continue their preparations for another bid to reclaim the continental crown.
Nigeria remains the most decorated side in the history of the competition, and performances such as Monday’s will strengthen belief that the team can once again challenge for African football’s biggest prize.
