The leadership of Oru West Campaign Council for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will, on Thursday, organise a fund raising dinner for him in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
A statement at the weekend by the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the event, Nwabueze Oguchienti, said the dinner will hold at the prestigious Ibis Royale Hotel, in Owerri, by 7:00p.m.
He said the deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, will be the special guest of honour, while the member representing Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru west in the Federal House of Representatives, Goodluck Opiah, will be the guest of honour at the ceremony.
The statement said Amb. Cliff Nzeruem will be the chairman and chief fund raiser at the event and will be supported by other prominent personalities from Oru west and beyond.
Oguchienti said prominent sons and daughters of Oru west and their friends will grace the occasion which he said will be colourful.
Shedding more light on what informed the decision to hold the dinner, Chairman of the Council, Chief G.G. E. Iheka, said Oru west leaders want to change the political narrative in the state, by providing an avenue for stakeholders to contribute to the funding of a candidate, particularly the one who has great promise of victory.
“We know Senator Uzodimma has the financial muscle to push his election through, but, we want to contribute to the funding all the same, because we believe that despite the funds at his disposal, the point must be made, loudly, that stakeholders should partake in funding candidates, so they can truly be stakeholders who can hold public office holders accountable,” Oguchienti said.
