Onyeka Michael-Ugwu: Medical whiz kid

Onye

Onyeka Michael-Ugwu, Founder and CEO of Hello perfect, set out as an employee of Heritage Bank, and used the high-stake platform to hone her skills in business strategy, corporate structuring, and stakeholder engagement. That foundation was to prove invaluable in her entrepreneurial growth when she discovered the transformative power of medical aesthetics.

On recognising there weren’t enough specialised treatments designed for diverse skin types in Africa, Onyeka embarked on extensive training across Europe and the United States, and earned certifications in medical aesthetics, laser technology, injectables, non-surgical skin rejuvenation, and advanced skincare science, thus equipping herself with the expertise to bridge the gap between science, beauty, and wellness.

Although she founded Hello Perfect in 2017, what began as a single clinic has expanded into a multi-location enterprise across three major cities in Nigeria. Her popular skincare line is the outcome of years of clinical research and product innovation to redefine how skincare works for all skin types, especially for black and brown skin, which have been relegated to near background in the skin science.

Her career is given to pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and creating far-reaching solutions. Through her CSR initiatives, Hello Perfect offers free treatments to women who cannot afford them, ensuring that skincare is not just a luxury for the rich.

Aside training as a medical aesthetician and senior laser technician, Onyeka Michael-Ugwu also earned a degree in Business Management Innovation from Queen Mary University, London.

For bringing world-class solutions to African skin care, The Sun Board of Editors chose her as winner of The Sun Young Achiever of the Year Award 2025.
