Pure Eve Limited and GuduGudu Herbal Worldwide Enterprise have warned consumers against counterfeit versions of their herbal product, Menofix Herbal Capsule, reportedly circulating in the market.

The companies, in a joint statement signed by their Head of Corporate Communications, Peter Oriri, said the officially approved name of the product was Menofix Herbal Capsule, and not simply “Menofix.”

Oriri said the companies would henceforth use the full name of the product in line with its certification and registration by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

He said the product was registered and certified by NAFDAC under registration number A7-103321L, issued to Pure Eve Limited, the manufacturer, GuduGudu Herbal Worldwide Enterprise.

Oriri expressed appreciation to NAFDAC for its support, guidance and public awareness efforts, particularly a social media post alerting the public to the circulation of counterfeit Menofix in the market.

He said the fake product had been displayed alongside the genuine product in NAFDAC’s public warning, adding that the version bearing only the name “Menofix” had also been recalled from the market.

He said, “We are eternally grateful to NAFDAC for its support, guidance and public awareness efforts, especially the social media post which has helped make the general public aware of the circulation of fake Menofix in the market.”

Oriri disclosed that the companies had engaged the leadership of the Idumota open drug market in Lagos and met with the chairman of drug marketers as part of efforts to curb the distribution of counterfeit products.

He added that the companies would continue to monitor the market and collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including NAFDAC, to protect consumers and prevent the circulation of the fake product.

According to him, the companies are also planning to introduce a verification sticker on their products to enable consumers to authenticate them.

“Going forward, we will also put a verification sticker on our products that you can scan to be sure it is from us,” he said.

The companies thanked their customers for their feedback and continued support, while reaffirming their commitment to product safety and regulatory compliance.

They urged consumers to remain vigilant and report suspected counterfeit products to the appropriate regulatory authorities.
