NDAN pioneer member, Babatunde Olabisi, dies at 69

A pioneer and founding member of the Newspapers/Magazines Distributors Association of Nigeria (NDAN), Lagos Island Zone, Marina, Babatunde Olabisi, popularly known as J.O. Bamishe, has died at the age of 69.

Olabisi died on July 31, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos after a brief illness, according to a statement signed by Musibau Oloyede, Chairman, NDAN Lagos Island Zone.

The deceased hailed from Esie, Kwara State.

Oloyede said the association received the death with deep sorrow, describing Olabisi as one of its pioneers and founding members who contributed to the growth of the newspaper and magazine distribution business. The chairman extended the association’s condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues and associates.

Burial arrangements released by the association show that the first Service of Songs commenced yesterday at the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement, St. Joseph Moshalashi Street, Iganmu, Lagos.

A second Service of Songs is scheduled for today at No. 6, Ayo Afolabi Street, Aboru, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

The funeral service and interment will take place on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the family compound.

The association prayed for the repose of Olabisi’s soul and extended its condolences to his bereaved family.
