Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, yesterday, swore in 18 new commissioners and five special advisers.
The House of Assembly had, penultimate week, confirmed new commissioners, including son of late former governor of the state, Chief Adebayo Adefarati, Adegboyega; younger brother of late governor Olusegun Agagu, Femi; two journalists, Messrs Donald Ojogo and Yemi Olowolabi.
Governor Akeredolu urged the commissioners and special advisers to work for the progress and development of the state in their capacities as political office holders.
Meanwhile, Akeredolu alleged, yesterday, that former governor Olusegun Mimiko, left over N220 billion debt for the state.
The governor, who spoke at the swearing in ceremony of newly-appointed commissioners, in Akure, alleged that “Mimiko’s administration embarked on frivolous projects which had no direct impacts on the lives of the people of the state.”
Governor Akeredolu, who blamed the Mimiko’s administration for its alleged lack of focus, explained that the debts incurred by the administration included money borrowed from within and outside the country, including those used for uncompleted projects executed by his (Mimiko) administration.
