The OML 150 Communities Consultative Forum has praised Senate President Godswill Akpabio for withdrawing defamation lawsuits against his colleague, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, hailing the move as a beacon of statesmanship amid calls for deeper reconciliation. In a statement signed by Chairman Dr. Monday Agbeyi and Secretary Mr. Oritseweyinmi Aginejuone, the forum described Akpabio’s decision as a “striking demonstration of maturity” that exemplifies unity and leadership in the National Assembly.

The group urged the Senate President to go further by engaging critics constructively and incorporating their feedback into governance.“We urge Senator Akpabio not to stop at this point but to take further affirmative steps,” the statement read. It specifically recommended inviting High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, husband of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Alema of Warri Kingdom, into reconciliation talks. “Such a gesture would send a strong message of peace, healing, and unity to the Nigerian public and political class,” it added.

The forum highlighted the senators’ pre-existing bonds and their shared birthday as a “divine reminder” of linked destinies in national service. It expressed optimism that this could foster progress, calling on both leaders to build lasting collaboration.

Nigeria’s political landscape, often marked by discord, stands to benefit from such gestures, the group noted, praying for inspired leadership ahead.
