From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has called on politicians to engage more youths in governance to unlock their potential and drive positive change in Nigeria.
Speaking in Osogbo yesterday during the 50th birthday celebration and book launch of Hon. Bukola Onifade, the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Boundary Matters, Oluwo emphasized that young people have the capacity to transform the nation’s fortunes if given the opportunity.
The monarch expressed that the tradition of appointing older individuals as leaders is waning, advocating instead for the inclusion of younger leaders who can connect with the populace and foster development.
“We should allow our youth to participate in governance. I urge all governments to involve youth in decision-making. Some still believe that only the elderly should lead, but I proudly stand as a youth and walk boldly,” he stated.

“Many young people now possess the experience to perform even better than the elders. I can confidently say that Iwo has gained more exposure than any other place because I have brought that exposure to the town,” Oluwo said.
Governor Adeleke, represented by Hon. Olusoji Ajeigbe, Commissioner for Government House Affairs and Protocol, praised the book “Unbroken Destiny” by Onifade, describing it as a testament to resilience, divine grace, and a refusal to succumb to life’s challenges.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting education, creativity, and personal development, enabling youths to contribute to the state’s progress. “I have observed the growing impact of young professionals like the author, who inspire others to believe in possibilities through their work,” he remarked.
Adeleke encouraged young professionals and aspiring writers to take inspiration from Onifade, emphasizing that their talents in writing, art, leadership, or service can leave a positive mark on society. “Our stories matter. They preserve memory, nurture courage, and illuminate the path for those who follow,” he added.
In gratitude, the celebrant and author, Bukola Onifade, expressed appreciation to the governor for given him the opportunity to serve and contribute to the development of the state.
