The highly anticipated Olukusa Football Tournament is poised to revolutionise grassroots football in Nigeria.

It’s being organised by the Grassroots Football Talents Developers Association of Nigeria (GRAFTADEAN) and scheduled for November 1-30, 2025 in Ibadan.

This inaugural edition, as stated by Engr. W.A. Afolabi, the Overseer and Competition Director, is set to be the largest and most prestigious tournament of its kind in the country.

The tournament, which is being sponsored by Ibrahim Sheriffdeen Akano Adetunji, is organised with the aim of discovering and nurturing exceptional football talents in Ibadan, providing a platform for young players to showcase their skills and potentially launch their careers.

“All the materials needed for the maiden tournament that will become an annual football championship in Ibadan, such as medals, trophies, jerseys, and shields for individual prizes, are being manufactured in China and will arrive in the country soon,” said Mogaji Olukusa.

The opening match has been scheduled for Olubadan mini stadium, while the grand finale and the closing ceremony will be at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, with mouthwatering incentives awaiting all the winners.

In addition to the prizes, local sponsors are stepping up to provide additional support, including refreshments for the fans and promotional materials to boost attendance.

The excitement surrounding the tournament is palpable, as teams prepare to showcase their skills and compete for the coveted titles.
