The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, will elevate nine chiefs in the Otun Olubadan line tomorrow, marking another significant step in the traditional leadership progression of the ancient city.
According to a statement by the Media Aide to the Olubadan, Mr. Adeola Oloko, the promotion ceremony would take place at 11am at the Oke-Aremo Palace, Ibadan, with members of the Olubadan-in-Council expected to be in attendance.
Among those set for elevation is Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, an Ibadan-based lawyer and elder brother to the Oyo State Governor. He will be promoted from Aare Onibon to Gbonka Olubadan.
Renowned engineer and business magnate, Chief Dotun Sanusi, will be elevated from Ajia to Bada Olubadan, while House of Representatives member, Chief Akin Alabi, moves from Jagun to Ajia Olubadan.
However, the palace disclosed that the promotion from Mogaji to the highly competitive Jagun Olubadan title had been placed on hold until further notice.
The full list of chiefs due for promotion is as follows: Chief Dauda Kolawole Gbadamosi (Aare Ago to Ayingun Olubadan), Chief William Oyeleke Akande (Lagunna to Aare Ago Olubadan), Chief Oluyinka Akande (Oota to Lagunna Olubadan), Chief Olufemi Taofeek Ogunwale (Aare-Egbe Omo to Oota Olubadan), Chief Wasiu Aderoju Alaadorin (Gbonka to Aare-Egbe Omo Olubadan) and Chief Abiola Iyiola Anlamole (Bada to Aare Onibon Olubadan).
