Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has lauded Chief Mrs. Titilope Akande’s empowerment initiatives, describing her intervention in the lives of the underprivileged as a reflection of genuine love for humanity and enduring generosity.

He gave the commendation when Chief (Mrs.) Akande, wife of the late Ibadan-born multi-billionaire businessman, Chief Harry Ayoade Akande, led members of her Foundation on a courtesy visit to his residence in Bodija, Ibadan.

The monarch, who is also the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, recalled his longstanding association with the late businessman, fondly referred to as the Agbaoye of Ibadan.

He described the deceased as a respected community leader and a senior schoolmate at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, where he graduated a year ahead of him.

Olubadan praised Mrs Akande for devoting her time and resources to uplifting the underprivileged rather than remaining in the comfort of life abroad.

“Of particular note is your ability to trudge on despite the unfortunate loss of my beloved brother and senior at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo. It is my prayer that God will continue to comfort you and the family,” he said.

He added that her decision to institutionalise her philanthropic efforts through a structured foundation demonstrates foresight, compassion, and commitment to sustainable impact. Such initiatives, he stated, would complement government efforts in addressing poverty and social inequality.

Ladoja further pledged the palace’s moral and traditional support for initiatives promoting social welfare, economic empowerment, and human development within Ibadanland and beyond.

Akande explained that the Foundation was established from the conviction that God created all humans, but circumstances of birth and opportunity are not equal. The Foundation uses a systematic needs assessment approach to ensure interventions reach those genuinely in need.
