  • Group calls for the advancement of women for Nigeria’s greatness

Wife of the presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Church (TREM) Bishop Peace Okonkwo has emphasised the need to remove barriers that limit the progress of women across the country.

One of such hindrances includes : women taking the back seat,and being satisfied as wives without fulfilling their destiny,access to finance and business development services or idea that can grow their business.among other issues that has kept women relegated to the background.

She disclosed this during the Mission to West Africa 2024, 3-day conference, organised by Kingdom Apostolic Revival Ministries,(KARM), in Partnership with the Apostles in the Market Place (AiMP) Network, Trem, Times Square Church,and in collaboration with Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos State, with conference theme:”Equipping the Equippers” while the opening ceremony focused on the rising woman.

Okonkwo advised women to stop taking the back seat, women have a role to build and they need to fulfil their God’s given purposes to the family and society at large. She understands the current economic challenge in the country and cited Biblical women as examples that rose and advanced their status regardless of societal challenges.

“As women you don’t need to leave things to spoil before you would rise to the occasion and make a difference that positive change they intend to see.

Also, African entrepreneur and Former Chairperson at First Bank of Nigeria, Pastor Ibukun Awosika said many women are confused on how to be successful in life due to some societal norms that affects the way women are perceived.

“As a rising woman you should receive help and recognise grace and work according to God’s purpose whether as a woman of faith or circular world.If God do not get a stake at your rising it would crumble.

On her part ,Pastor Esther Ibanga said Nigerian women face persistent disadvantages and limited support for them to fulfill their purpose in life.

Ibanga added empowering women as a necessity for Nigeria to be great, as country. As a nation we need to be committed to the issues relating to improving the conditions of women in Nigeria.

MeanWhile, the convener Pastor John Enelamah said supporting women aligns with areas of the initiative which is intended to improve the quality of life of Nigerians especially at a time when Nigerians need succour.

“To ensure that the future generations of Nigerians are healthy, educated and productive, the quality of education and skills empowerment for the youth must be a priority.

“There is still a lot of work needed to eliminate the systematic barriers that hinder the progress of women in the country and results can be achieved with determination and focus.

The conference overall empowered Pastors, Church Leaders, Christian leaders, and professionals in the marketplace to play a pivotal role in advancing the Kingdom of God and addressing the challenges faced by Nigeria.
