Ohanaeze Kaduna elects new officials, calls for peaceful coexistence

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Kaduna State chapter has elected new officials to run the affairs of the organisation for the next four years.

 The election was keenly contested at the weekend, among seven states of the Eastern Nigeria, namely Abia, Enugu, Imo, Delta, Ebonyi, Anambra and Rivers.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President, Comrade Ikem Chigbue from Delta state promised to uplift the Ohanaeze to greater height under his leadership.

 He assured that Igbo would continue to coexist peaceful with the rest of the people of the host State of Kaduna.

 “I humbly accept the task of leading the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Kaduna State chapter with good faith.

 “I will do everything possible to uphold and uplift Ohanaeze Ndigbo to a greater height. We will hit the ground running to amend fences where necessary.

 “With my executive members, we will make sure that we bring a very good innovations that will bring appreciable progress to this noble forum; Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Kaduna State chapter.

 “We promise to improve where my predecessor stopped and endure more achievements for the forum. We thank all members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the confidence reposed in us and by the special grace of God we will not let you down,” Chigbue said.

 Earlier, the immediate past President, Chief Ben Churchill Aniekwena recapped his achievements in the last four months in office, saying that he cultivated peaceful coexistence, partnership between Ohanaeze and other traditional institutions in Kaduna State.

 He added that Ohanaeze had a peaceful working relationship with the Kaduna State government because of his members’ socio-economic contributions to the revenue base of the State.

The former President advised the newly elected President to build and improve on where he stopped administering the Ohanaeze in the State.

 Other elected officials included Deputy President, Chief Jerry Nwaeze (Ebonyi state), Vice President 1: Mazi Chris Emeka Oha (Enugu), Vice President 2: Alban Ikechi Akagha (mo), and Vice President 3: Christian Ndubuisi (Abia)

 

Also elected are the Secretary General: Chief Nicholas Osuagwu (Imo), Assistant Secretary: Apostle George Umeahea (Delta), Treasurer: Chief Geoffrey Ozijiri( Abia), Publicity Secretary : Felix Nnaji ( Enugu), Women Leader: Chief (Mrs) Uloma Agha Orji( Imo) and Youth Leader, Samuel Ikeduba, (Anambra)

The position of Financial Secretary and Legal Advisor was kept in abeyance till the next meeting. No reason was given as at the time of this report.
