Reacting to development, NAOSS in a statement jointly signed by its National President and General Secretary, Olubodun Olalekan and Adesanya Peter Ifedayo, respectively, on Thursday, said that the Ogun 1 Area Command of the NSC has not only done a Yeoman’s job, it has saved hundreds of Ogun State students from dangers of narcotics.
While expressing worry over the issue of drug abuse among the youths, NAOSS noted that the seizure of the narcotics will help greatly in curbing incidents of drug abuse in Ogun State and by extension, Nigeria.
It added that the damage the narcotics would have inflicted on the youths would be devastating if not for the vigilance and thorough professionalism of the men and officers of the customs command who intercepted the narcotics in transit.
The statement further noted that other contraband goods such as trailer loads of spaghetti, groundnut oil and pneumatic tyres confiscated by the customs would help in ridding the country of substandard food items and products.
NAOSS, however, urged Afeni to sustain the tempo of his command in its fight against smuggling and other damaging economic activities.
The Association declared its readiness to rally support for the command in its efforts to paralyze economic sabotage and inflow of dangerous drugs into the state.
