The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency has adopted former Commissioner for Women and Social Development, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, as the consensus candidate for the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the residence of the Chairman of the Ifo APC Apex Leadership, Chief Joju Fadairo, with key party leaders and stakeholders from Ifo and Ewekoro local government areas in attendance.
Speaking after her adoption, Adeleye, a former two-time member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, expressed gratitude to the party leadership, particularly Governor Abiodun, whom she described as a father, leader, and mentor, who is committed to equity, unity and inclusive leadership.
She also appreciated APC leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across the constituency for their confidence and support over the years. She also noted that her emergence reflected a collective aspiration for progress and inclusive representation. The former commissioner commended fellow aspirants and party leaders, including Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, Lateef Adesina, Bashorun Olaniran Olalekan, and Ademola Evans, for their maturity and commitment to party unity.
She said the process leading to her emergence was not about exclusion, but about building consensus and strengthening the collective interest of the party and constituents.
Adeleye urged party faithful to sustain the spirit of unity and cooperation as the party moves into the next phase of the electoral process, pledging to remain committed to humility, inclusiveness and people-oriented representation.
