Ogocity’s Citizen proclaims new dawn in gospel music

Fast rising gospel artiste, Ogochukwu Oye now known as Ogocity, is blessed with a distinct style of praise and worship.

The singer began her career in 2017 with songs like “I’ll Be There” and “For You.” Both songs emphasized the importance of love and being present for those we care about.

In her recent journey, Ogocity transitioned into a gospel artiste after recounting how the death of her sister gave her clarity, as she decided to channel her talent to win souls for the kingdom of God through music.

Ogocity’s debut single, ‘Citizen’, is a song borne out of Philippians 3:20, which says ‘But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus lives.’

According to the musician, “The song is a gentle reminder to all believers of our true identity in Christ Jesus. That our citizenship isn’t of this world alone; we have a place with our saviour in heaven. Our saviour came and died, was buried and resurrected, and now is seated in heavenly places. The good news is that, as Christians, we have a place in heaven too, so we are citizens.”

The song, ‘Citizen’ is fused with modern day pidgin to drive the point of citizenship further to the understanding of the listeners.

Ogocity believes that, in a world where there are so many voices, it’s important to remind Christians of what Jesus did and who we are in Christ.

Produced by Hillsplay, the song features Jesus hype man, Gerald Bishung. As described by Ogocity, the new single will give listeners a reason to dance while showing off their citizenship in Christ Jesus.

‘Citizen’ is available for streaming on all digital platforms. Fans can connect with Ogocity on all social media platforms.
