…Announces sales of form for NMBG 2024 contest
The Chief Executive Officer of OCO World, a business conglomerate, Mr. Celestine Okwudili, has said that the organization has been championing girl-child projects through pet projects of the winners of the Nsukka Most Beautiful Girl Nigeria (NMBG) beauty pageant contest for the past four years.
Okwudili disclosed this in Nsukka on Tuesday during a press briefing to announce activities lined up for the NMBG 2024, tagged, “The Iconic Queen” under the sponsorships of Bet9ja Foundation and OCO Foundation.
He said that the beauty pageant that started in 2019, aimed at promoting and showcasing the rich culture of Nsukka to the outside world, as well as helping the girl-child discover their potential and compete favorably with their counterparts globally.
“The aim of the NMBG beauty pageant is not only to help the girl-child in Nsukka and Nigeria to compete with their counterparts globally but also to prepare them for the future.
“We want to showcase our girls to the world and open Nsukka to local and international investments, the purpose of this pageant is not only to celebrate beauty but also to empower women economically and educationally so that they will be able to help others.
“This programme has impacted positively on girls because the winners of the beauty Project had through their pet projects helped to train, and sensitize other girls, more especially on the importance of girl child education,” he said.
Speaking further, The OCO World CEO said that Mavis Aruma who won the NMBG 2020 edition is today an international figure in modeling and in the beauty pageantry industry.
“Mavis, among others who were discovered from the NMBG beauty pageant, has done us proud by excelling nationally and internationally and she is a role model for many girls,” he said.
Going down memory lane, Okwudili explained that the beauty pageant contest had its first edition for girls in Nsukka and was extended to contestants in the entire Enugu State in the second edition, while the third edition was for the South East region and the fourth edition was for all contestants in the country.
Speaking, Mr. Anyanso Ezekiel, the event manager for the beauty pageant commended OCO Foundation and Bet9ja Foundation for sponsoring the contest for the past four years.
He disclosed that the sale forms for the 2024 edition are already on sale at the rate of N7000 and are available at OCO Academy, Nsukka, SUG secretariat, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Bet9ja outlets, leading shops stores, cyber cafes, and supermarkets in Nsukka and Enugu town, among others, adding that the sell of form will end on 17th of July 2024.
He disclosed further that the contest is open to all Nigerian girls between the ages of 18 to 28 years of age, adding that the winner of the NMBG 2024 will smile home with a grand prize of N2m and an official car, while the 1st and 2nd runner-ups will be giving N1m and N500,000 respectively, with N200,000 each to 4th to 6th places I said consolation price.
“Contest is open to all Nigerian females residing in any part of Nigeria between 18 to 28 years of age, the sale of forms is on already and will end on 17th of July 2024,” he said.
Also speaking, Mrs. Rita Ikechukwu, Chaperone of the contest urged parents to allow their daughters to participate in the beauty contest adding that they will stand a chance to benefit many things.
She assured that adequate measures will be put in place to ensure the safety and comfort of the contestants.
Earlier, Comr Kingsly Nwosu, NMBG beauty pageant Consultant said that the 2024 edition of the programme will continue to be transparent and equal playing ground for all contestants.
