Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborewvori has urged corps members in the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 deployed to the state to remain diligent and be committed throughout their service year.
Governor Oborewvori represented by his Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Harry ThankGod Trakiriowei gave the advice at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly posted corps members on Friday at Issele-Uku Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State
The Governor said the National Youth Service Corps orientation course remains a vital pillar of the service year, adding that it was designed to provide corps members the physical, emotional, and psychological preparation required not only for the tasks they will undertake during their service year but also for life beyond.
He urge corps members to participate actively in all camp activities and to interact freely with one another, as the camp environment mirrors the rich cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity of our great nation.
He said “Beyond fostering unity, tolerance, and cooperation, the orientation programme is structured to promote national integration and sustainable development.”
He noted that during the period, corps members will be exposed to security awareness, leadership, entrepreneurship, the national economy, and personal development and also gain valuable insights into the culture, traditions, and hospitality of the people of Delta State.

Earlier, the state coordinator, Mr. John Vandi Kwaghe commended the state governor, Sheriff Oborewvori for his unwavering commitment to the activities of the National Youth Service Corps and youth development in general.
He disclosed that a total of one thousand eight hundred and fifty (1,850) Prospective Corps Members, comprising seven hundred and seventy one(771) males and one thousand and seventy nine (1,079) females, were successfully registered.
The state coordinator also noted that the three-week Orientation Course has been carefully designed in line with the objectives of the NYSC Scheme to instil discipline, patriotism, national consciousness, leadership skills, and the spirit of self-reliance in our Prospective Corps Members.
“I must commend the discipline, cooperation, and enthusiasm displayed by the Prospective Corps Members since their arrival on Camp. Their conduct thus far is highly commendable and reflects the spirit of unity, service, and dedication which the NYSC Scheme seeks to inculcate in Nigerian youths.”
