From Geoffrey Anyanwu, Enugu
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, yesterday charged the people of Enugu to keep alive the Obidient Movement by repeating the feat of February 25, when they gave LP a landslide victory in the state. He asked the people not to despair with the temporary setback, assuring them that their mandate and that of all Nigerians given to him and the Labour Party would be restored and reclaimed.
Obi, who was in Enugu on a private condolence visit to the family of the slain Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Enugu East Senatorial District, Chief Oyibo Chukwu, at Amurri in Nkanu West Local Government, could not escape the eagle eyes of the masses, who almost mobbed him and his entourage at Eke Agbani on their way back from Amurri.
The enthusiastic crowd, who trooped out, could not hold their joy on sighting Obi as they began shouting: “Obi, Obi, Obi”, and the area was, in a few minutes, turned to a rally ground.
Obi, who was accompanied by the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abule, and Senator Victor Umeh, and being led by the LP governorship candidate for Enugu State, Chijioke Edeoga, and the new senatorial candidate for Enugu East used to replace the slain Chukwu, Kelvin Chukwu, was compelled to acknowledge cheers from the crowd surging uncontrollably, and briefly addressed them.
