The acting Director-General of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Christy Uba, has charged Corps members to entrench the culture of working together in an atmosphere filled with friendship, peace, harmony for a great and prosperous Nigeria.
She stated this today in a nationwide address to mark the swearing in ceremony of Corps members of 2022 Batch C Stream 2 for prospective Corps members deployed to Rivers State.
Represented at the ceremony by the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. George Mfongang, Mrs. Uba called on the Corps members to have a significant influence on Nigeria through high level of patriotism, discipline and hard work in the service year and beyond.
She commended the Corps members for their patriotic disposition and readiness to selflessly serve their fatherland and charged to uphold the values and ideals of the noble NYSC Scheme in all that they do.
The acting Director-General further used the occasion to encourage the Corps members to avail themselves of the opportunities in NYSC Scheme’s Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme in order to be self employed, especially as white-collar jobs are no longer readily available.
Earlier, the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi, represented by. Justice Constance Duoye Green, had administered the Oath of Allegiance on the Corps Members.
The combined camp for Rivers and Delta States had 1,515 Corps members of Rivers State and 451 Corps members of Delta State were sworn in at the low key ceremony.
