Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike is often referred to as Mr. Project due to his record of performance as Governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023.

With his appointment as Minister of the FCT, many Nigerians had great expectations that he was going to replicate that in the Nation’s Capital. And he has not disappointed.

To meet the expectations of the people, the minister embarked on ambitious projects to revitalise Abuja’s infrastructure, improve security, and enhance administrative efficiency.

He has overseen the construction and commissioning of numerous roads in the FCT, including the Outer Southern Expressway, Arterial Road N20, Saburi 1 & 2 access roads, and the Gabot Tokulo Road.

Other significant projects include the reconstruction of the Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction Road and ongoing work on roads like Kwaita/Yebu Road, Aguma Palace – Radio Nigeria, New Market Road, and the Kuje Road.

Bridges completed by his administration in the FCT include the Wuye Bridge, the bridge near the Apo Roundabout, the flyover connecting Guzape to Garki II, the Power House Bridge, and the interchange on Wole Soyinka Way (Arterial Road N20), among others.

He is also constructing 40 housing units for judges in the FCT as part of a government welfare package. Also ongoing is the installation of Integrated Solar Streetlights in Abuja, as part of the ‘Light Up Abuja’ project to enhance security in the FCT.

The 632-bed hostel project at the Nigerian Law School, Bwari campus, Abuja is another landmark project in the city.

In addition to his focus on infrastructure development, he is politically active at all times. In all political matters, he never sits on the fence.

The Sun Board of Editors, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in infrastructure development, security, health, education, among others, chose him as winner of The Sun Minister of the Year Award for 2025.
