The newly elected Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ben Nwoye, has formally assumed office at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, pledging to promote unity, healing, and genuine reconciliation within the party.

Nwoye arrived at the APC national headquarters around 11:30 a.m., shortly after appearing on a Channels Television political programme in Asokoro. He was received by a large crowd of supporters who sang and cheered as they accompanied him to his office on the first floor of Wing B of the secretariat.

The former Enugu State APC chairman was elected into the position at the party’s 8th National Convention held last Saturday at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Addressing party members and supporters at the conference room, Nwoye expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received before, during, and after the convention. He assured them of an inclusive leadership style that would accommodate all interests within the party.

“We are going to embrace inclusive and not exclusive style of leadership. There will be no room for that under my watch.

“I’m not going to take this trust and confidence reposed in me for granted. Campaign is all over. We are going to embrace those that supported us and those that didn’t, it’s all about politics, and I don’t hold any grudge against anyone. Let’s embrace each other, and not to see the victory from the point of view that we are more superior. No, rather, we should see it as an act of God and his favour,” he said.

Nwoye took over from Emma Enukwu, who is also from Enugu State and served the party for 13 years in various capacities at the national secretariat.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing an enabling environment for a peaceful and successful national convention.

The APC chieftain described Tinubu as a visionary leader with “fantastic ideas” to drive Nigeria’s economy forward, adding that party leaders would work tirelessly to secure his re-election in 2027.

Nwoye further appreciated Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for mobilising delegates from the state, noting that he demonstrated strong leadership within the party.

“I want to assure our party faithfuls that now is time for healing and total reconciliation. As we move forward, we shall work tirelessly to reposition our great party in Southern Nigeria for greater successes.

“Together, we shall march forward, united, focused and determined to secure victory for Mr. President and all the candidates of our great party in the upcoming general election in 2027. It’s our responsibility to do that,” he said.
