- Sets 2024/2025 academic session for take off

Following the recent approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishment of the Niger state University of Education, the National University Commission (NUC) has granted approval for four faculties and 41 full-time courses for the take off of the University.
Consequently, the University has set 2024/2025 academic session for the formal take off of academic activities in the new institution which has been named after the late former governor, Engineer Abdulkadir A. Kure.
The four faculties approved by the NUC includes that of science education, education, vocational and technical education and art and social science education.
Thie approval was contained in a letter dated 20th December 2023 and addressed to the Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammed Auna and signed by the acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.
The approvals was out come of a resource verification visit carried out by panels of experts to the proposed academic program in the State University of Education to assess the human and material resources available.
Part of the approval letter reads “I am directed to inform the Vice Chancellor that the Ag. Executive Secretary has considered and approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the following undergraduate programs, to be run in the main campus of the university with effect from the 2023/2024 academic session.”
The facilities include Science education, education, vocational and technical education, and Arts and social sciences education.
Briefing newsmen in Minna on Thursday the Chairman of the Implementation Committee for the take off the University, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya said that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has equally approved the listing of the State University of Education in the 2024/2025 academic session.
Yahaya said that there is an ongoing thorough assessment of the present facilities to identify gaps and areas of upgrade and improvement adding that work is being done to improve some basic learning facilities in some of the lecture theatres and address the inadequate seating provisions in the present central library.
