The newly-appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has praised Trucks Transit Parks (TTP) Ltd for its innovative solutions and dedication to improving port operations.

His commendation followed a recent visit to TTP’s operational office at the Lilypond Container Terminal in Ijora, where he assessed their systems and discussed ways to enhance port efficiency and reduce congestion.

The visit highlights a significant milestone in the collaboration between NPA and TTP, showcasing their mutual commitment to advancing Nigeria’s port sector. During the tour, Dantsoho explored TTP’s advanced truck traffic management facilities, including real-time CCTV monitoring and other cutting-edge technologies aimed at optimizing port operations.

Dantsoho was particularly impressed by TTP’s electronic call-up system, which has been in place since 2021, and a demonstration of their upcoming e-tag/RFID technology. These innovations are set to transform the port ecosystem by increasing efficiency and sustainability.

Emphasising the need for continued collaboration, Dantsoho advocated for integrating renewable energy into long-term projects to reduce carbon emissions and enhance environmental sustainability.

“For long-term projects, incorporating renewable energy is essential to cut down emissions and protect our environment,” he stated.

Jama Onwubuariri, Managing Director of TTP, thanked Dr. Dantsoho for his visit and reiterated TTP’s commitment to ongoing improvement. He highlighted that the Ètò electronic call-up system has undergone over 150 updates since its launch. Onwubuariri also revealed that TTP’s e-tag and RFID system, fully funded by TTP, is ready for implementation pending NPA’s approval.

“We are pleased to report that RFID/E-tag scanners have been successfully tested at key sites, including the Lagos Port Complex,” Onwubuariri noted. He also announced plans to extend TTP’s truck traffic management solutions to other ports in Nigeria and West Africa and to establish a command and control center at the NPA headquarters to enhance oversight and coordination of port activities.

“Our dedication to innovation and excellence in port management is unwavering. We are excited about the impact of our e-tag/RFID technology on improving operations and setting new standards in the industry,” Onwubuariri concluded.

The visit emphasised the need to cement the commitment between NPA and TTP to tackle industry challenges and drive growth in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
