The Northern Coalition Group, (CNG), has identified the absence of effective synergy between the Federal and Northern state governments as a weak link in the fight against Insecurity in the region

Speaking at a stakeholders engagement on Security in Northern Nigeria held on Thursday in Kano, the Chairman (BOT) of the Coalition, Nastura Ashir Shariff equally identified the same problem among the different security agencies fighting the war in the region.

He regretted that the problem has severally led to preventable fatalities and failure to flush out the insurgents and criminals operating in the region in real time

The engagement which was organised under the theme, “Changing the narratives of Insecuritiy in Northern Nigeria”,was attended by members of the Coalition from across the North, including film artists, social media influencers, bloggers among others.

Shariff indicated that worried by the situation, the Coalition had met with serving and retired security officers ftom the region on the current challenge while expressing optimism that a positive action would be taken to address the problem. .

He added that they had come up with a bueprint on insecurity in the region for the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including also engaging the tate governors of the region adding that they were able to secure the governors’ assurance to review their approach.

Speaking, the Chairman of the occasion Ibrahim Ahmad Katsina, regretted that the region was facing a number of social challenges ranging from.political thuggery, drug- abuse, youth restiveness to banditry and kidnapping.

The one time Assistant Director General of the Department of State Service called for concerted efforts to addressing the security challenges in the region as he tasked the audience to help change the narratives of the region by emphasizing its positive aspects.
