The Northern Christian Association (NCA), formerly known as Northern CAN, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Equity Health Group and its strategic partners, DoktorConnect and United International HMO, to deploy 1,000 containerised clinics across the country.

The initiative will prioritise underserved communities, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where access to quality healthcare remains limited.

In a statement signed and issued to journalists in Kaduna on Friday, the Chairman of NCA, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, said the agreement was reached in collaboration with Dr. Princess Ibe during a meeting held at Equity Hospital in Lekki, Lagos State.

The planned deployment of 1,000 containerised clinics is expected to significantly improve Nigeria’s primary healthcare outcomes, while also creating employment opportunities for healthcare professionals and support staff.

The project will be implemented in phases, with an initial focus on high-need regions, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

Hayab highlighted the critical role of faith-based institutions in community development, noting that the association’s extensive network would ensure effective grassroots reach.

According to him, the initiative will complement existing government and private healthcare services by expanding access to essential medical care for millions of Nigerians, especially those in rural and hard-to-reach areas with limited functional health facilities.

He explained that each containerised clinic will provide basic medical consultations and treatment, maternal and child healthcare services, vaccinations, diagnostic services, and telemedicine-enabled consultations.

On her part, Dr Ibe said the initiative reflects Equity Health Group’s commitment to transforming healthcare delivery through innovation and strategic partnerships.

She emphasised that combining physical infrastructure with digital health technology and insurance coverage would help build a more inclusive and sustainable healthcare system.
