From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri

The Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Amb illya Damagum, has told Imo people that nobody will seize their votes again in the November 11 gubernatorial polls and urged them to come out to support Samuel Anyanwu, candidate of the Party.

This is even as the governors of Zamfara and Enugu states, Dr Dauda Lawal and Peter Mbah have urged Imo people to vote out the APC administration if they want the current poverty and insecurity to end.

Speaking at the flag-off campaign of the gubernatorial of the party Senator Samuel Anyanwu held at the Nwankwo Kanu Sports Centre, Imo state capital, the PDP National Chairman, Amb Damagum said that the votes of the Imo people will not be seized this time around and that the people should come to vote out the 419 people and send them out of the state.

He said: “Let me tell you your votes can not be seized this time around. We know their business, which is 419 and we will send them out of the state and back to their business where they belong. But our candidate Senator Samuel Anyanwu loves this state and has stuck out his neck for you.

He has sacrificed all he has to come out to get you out of this man-made wahalla of insecurity that has continued to make the state insecure. I know Imo people to be very enterprising. So, God has given you people another opportunity to take back your state from 419 people and the destiny of the state is in your hands and your own destiny is also in your hands. If you want to continue suffering then don’t support Senator Samuel Anysnwu but if you want to come out of this wahallah then come on the 11 November and cast your votes for Samuel Anyanwu because he has the capacity to bring positive change to Imo. This is a PDP state and you will reflect on when PDP was in government how the state progressed and the difference today”.

“I want to remind you that the cost of food and everything has been high since the APC came to power. We know what the dollar is today and it was not so under the PDP. Imo people know when the PDP was in power, they were not as insecure as they are today as the people cannot do their businesses. But the PDP candidate has the capacity to turn things around for the better. So, I am happy with what I have seen here today. I want you people to be committed and support Sen Samuel Anyanwu on 11 November and Imo will be better for everybody.”

Similarly, Peter Mbah, Enugu State Governor who spoke on behalf of the other governors said that the PDP candidate will sweep away poverty and insecurity which have plagued the state in the last three and half years of the APC. And, that PDP take back the state because it has always been a PDP state.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu has pledged to recall the sacked 10, 000 youths who were employed by the Ohakim administration. He, also said that He would conduct council polls within six months in office to bring life back to the councils across the state, as well as to resume the payment of pensioners from where the Emeka Ihedioha had stopped.

“I’m pledging here before the Imo people that when I am elected as the governor of the state I will recall the 10, 000 who were employed by the government and they have even paid for six months. I will conduct local council polls within six months in office to bring back life to the councils and continue the payment of pensions from where the Emeka Ihedioha had stopped. I will create jobs and export 4,000 youths to the EU because that is 419,” he stated.

Present at the event were the governor of Edo State Dr Godwin Obaseki, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, the former Senate President and Chairman Board of Trustees of the Party, Senator Adolphus Wabara, members of the National Working Committee.

However, the ceremony witnessed a large turnout but most party faithfuls who attended the ceremony expressed disappointment at the absence of the key leaders of the party such as former Governors Emeka Ihedioha and Achike Udenwa.
