Former Senate Minority Leader and All Peoples Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate for Plateau North, Simon Mwadkwon, has extended a hand of fellowship to all other aspirants in the just concluded primary election
He said that his election represented a collective victory for all the members of the party in Plateau North.
Speaking to newsmen in Jos Monday while formally announcing his candidature for 2027 senatorial election for Plateau North, Mwadkwon, stressed the importance of unity within the APC following the primaries, which he describes as an “in-house struggle” between brothers and sisters.
He extended an “olive branch” to all who contested, emphasizing that there are no “winners” or “vanquished” in an internal party contest and that everyone will be carried along.
Mwadkwon said, “So the primaries of the APC have come and gone. And as winners, for us, there’s no winner, there’s no vanquish. It was an in-house struggle. It was a struggle between brothers and sisters.
“And now we are going to face other political parties in the general election. As those that have been declared winners, we want to appeal to those who lost not to see it as a defeat.

“Rather it’s an opportunity for us to come together and execute the greater task of winning in all the general elections.
“We are extending an olive branch to each and every one of them so that we come together as a family to enable the party have the support it so desires for us to form the government in 2027.”
The former minority leader who was one of the victims of the 2023 Court of Appeal judgment, which sacked all elected state and national assembly members from the state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). reiterated his core political philosophy, which is centered on humanity and serving the people.
He attributed this to his upbringing and his father’s influence as a politician. He believes that human life and well-being are paramount, even above infrastructure.
Addressing the issue of insecurity in the state, the senator said that the implementation of state police, will ameliorate, to a great extent, the problem of insecurity in the state.
He said, “I am a strong advocate of a state police and I believe its implementation is a crucial step towards protecting the lives and property of the citizens, which I consider the most fundamental duty of government.
