Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a prominent Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has expressed outrage over the alleged increase in the pump price of Petroleum Motor Spirits (PMS) by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
He vehemently condemned the NNPC’s decision, emphasizing that the corporation does not have ownership rights over Nigeria’s resources.
Ajadi’s statement, made available on Tuesday, urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and call the NNPC to order.
He argued that the NNPC’s management, led by Mele Kyari, has a sinister agenda that must be aborted immediately. Ajadi emphasized that the NNPC’s actions are tantamount to a few individuals toying with the lives of millions of Nigerians.
He stated, “I implore President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take immediate action and restrain the NNPC. Our oil resources are a collective inheritance, and it is unacceptable for a select few to manipulate them for their own gain.”
Ajadi further urged President Tinubu to revert the pump price of PMS to its previous level, warning that failure to do so would tarnish his image and that of his government.
He reminded the President of his past opposition to fuel price increases during the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan, emphasizing the need for consistency in his stance.
Ajadi concluded by questioning the authority of the NNPC to unilaterally increase fuel prices, stressing that the President, as Minister of Petroleum, must act swiftly to prevent Nigeria’s collapse.
