The President of Nigeria Modern Pentathlon Federation has called on corporate organizations and individuals to give financial muscle to modern pentathlon sport in Nigeria, saying it has the potential to win the country medals at international meets.
Nnaji said this at the official media presentation and logo unveiling for the maiden edition of Lagos, Nigeria UIPM (Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne) Laser Run City Tour 2017 held in Lagos early this week.
According to him, in January 2017, Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) granted the hosting right for its latest invented sport – UIPM Laser Run City Tour to the federation.
He explained that the UIPM Laser Run (LR) consists of laser shooting and running. The shooting involves laser pistol shooting in series at a range equipped with laser targets. And each series of shooting is followed by running set distances.
Over 250 athletes vied for honours at the maiden edition held at theNigeria Institute for Sports, Lagos.
Nnaji said the competition was held to promote the sport in the country, adding that participants were drawn from public and private schools.
